There are weddings that are beautiful, and then there are weddings where you can feel the love radiating off the couple. Kara & Pen's celebration in Cavendish was absolutely the latter.

A Family Property Made for Love

Getting to DJ a wedding on Pen's family property in regional Victoria is always special—there's something about celebrating on land that holds family history and meaning. The property looked incredible, and according to Pen's parents jokingly during speeches, they almost got divorced before the wedding started with all the work they put in. The rolling hills of Cavendish provided the most incredible backdrop, with views that went on for days and that perfect regional Victoria golden light that makes everything look like it belongs in a magazine.

But honestly? The real view was watching these two look at each other all day like they still couldn't believe they got this lucky.

Vows That Hit Different

I've been DJing weddings for over 15 years, and I can always tell when vows are truly from somewhere special. Kara & Pen's ceremony had that beautiful weight to it—the kind of deep, genuine promises that make you remember why you love doing this job.

The way they couldn't stop looking at one another during their vows? Chef's kiss. That's the queer love story energy we're here for. When you know, you know and everyone there absolutely knew these two were it for each other.

Can We Have A Moment For The Outfits

LISTEN. Both brides looked absolutely stunning, but let's talk about how they absolutely nailed the fashion brief, shall we?

Pen was radiating in a long flowing white dress that was divine—and I mean divine—by @georgiayoungcouture. That dress moved like a dream and Kara must have been pinching herself that she got to go home with this absolute queen.

But Kara? Kara rocked the best god damn suit you've ever seen. We're talking intricate fine details embedded in a white suit by @reignerclothing that had people doing double-takes all day. It was an absolute talking point—guests were still complimenting it on the dance floor hours later.

This is what I mean when I say no one does it quite like the queers. The fashion, the creativity, the absolute refusal to stick to "traditional" when you can create something that's authentically, beautifully YOU? That's the energy we love to see.

Pizza, Paella & Perfect Blue Skies

Let's talk about the food because WOW. Pizza and paella for 130 guests? Genius move. There's something about communal-style dining that just sets the tone for a relaxed, joyful celebration. Everyone was well-fed, well-watered (those drinks were flowing!), and ready to celebrate.

The blue skies held all day, sometimes the weather gods are just on your side, you know? Perfect conditions for an outdoor celebration where the dance floor was set up under the stars.

A Dance Floor That Refused to Quit

Here's the thing about queer weddings: when the energy is right, the dance floor becomes something else entirely. From the moment we kicked things off, that floor was PACKED.

We're talking:

• Queer icons think Chappell, Charlie XCX, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Kylie

• Wedding bangers that got the aunties moving

• Remixes that kept the cool kids happy

• Crowd favorites that brought three generations together

The brief was clear: cater for everyone from the family to their queer chosen family, and somehow make it all flow. That's the sweet spot I love finding, where your grandma is dancing next to your over-the-top in the best possible way bestie, and everyone's having the time of their lives. The final song changed gear, but hit so hard playing 'Say yes to life' - Gang of Youths. Kara and Pen singing to one another in the centre of the dance floor circle. And when the song kicked into gear it was epic.

Dancing Under Regional Victoria Stars

There's something magical about dancing under the stars in regional Victoria. No light pollution, just endless sky, incredible views, and a group of 130 people celebrating love with their whole hearts.

Kara & Pen's crew came ready to party, and they delivered. From first dance to last song, that floor didn't empty. This is what I mean when I say queer celebrations hit different—there's a joy, an energy, a "we fought for this and we're going to CELEBRATE it" vibe that's absolutely electric.
